Volunteers + World Changers

Explore Activate Good. Want to volunteer as a way to connect with your new city but don’t know where to start? This here’s your one-stop make-a-difference shop. Activate Good is a Raleigh treasure – a true act of city and people love by founder and Executive Director Amber Smith and the now thousands of people who make volunteerism part of everyday life in the Triangle.
Through its online volunteer community and youth volunteer programs, AG helps match individuals, groups and companies to volunteer needs around the Triangle. You will do meaningful projects that use your skills here.
Pick a cause. Through Activate Good, one of the organizations listed below or your own research, find a worthy cause and commit a little time and/or money to it during your first 90 days here. (Many employers in the area offer employees a paid volunteer day.) Not only will you feel good by doing good, you might also make new friends.
Eat breakfast or lunch at A Place at the Table. Another Raleigh world-changing gem founded by NC State grad Maggie Kane, this is our first pay-what-you-can café located in Downtown Raleigh. The café provides community and great food for all, regardless of means. You can pay the suggested price, pay at least $3, pay using a Token from the café’s community partners or pay by volunteering. You can also tip to help fulfill their mission or buy a $10 Token to hand out yourself in the community. And the food is goooooood!
United Way of the Greater Triangle in September 2021 named its 10 to Watch Nonprofit Leaders in the Triangle,” selected for their proven impact within their communities and unique potential to shape the Triangle’s future.
